Overview
Operational Manager Nursing required at Madadeni Provincial Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal to oversee HIV, ARV, TB and STI services within the HAST unit.
Requirements
- Basic R425 qualification (i.e., Degree/Diploma) in general nursing, 1 year Post basic diploma in Clinical assessment, treatment and care.
- Minimum of 9 years appropriate recognizable nursing experience after registration as a professional nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
- At least five (5) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognizable experience in PHC after obtaining one (1) year post basic qualification in PHC.
- Knowledge, Skills, Training and Competencies Required: strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions, problem solving and conflict resolution.
- Understanding of the challenges facing the public health sector.
- Ability to prioritise issues and other work-related matters and to comply with time frames.
- Knowledge on nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statuses and other relevant legal framework.
Duties
- Oversee HIV management, ARV roll out, TB management STI services.
- Develop and implement quality assurance programmes, policies and operational plan for HAST unit to ensure compliance with National Core Standards.
- Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practise and standards as determined by the institution, District office and provincial office.
- Ensure provision of a safe therapeutic environment that allows for the practice of safe nursing care as laid by the nursing Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and all other applicable prescripts.
- Exercise control over discipline, grievances and all labour relations issues.
- Develop/ establish and maintain constructive working relationship with staff and other stakeholders.
- Effective utilisation of all resources e.g human, financial, equipment and supplies.
- Monitor the management/ prevention and control infection within HAST unit.
- Develop, monitor and evaluate staff performance in terms of EPMDS policy.
- Display a concern for patients, promoting, advocating and facilitating proper treatment and care and ensuring that the unit adhere to the principles of Batho Pele.
- Perform other functions assigned by the supervisor.
