Overview

Deputy Director: Financial Audits at KZN Provincial Treasury in Pietermaritzburg, requiring a relevant NQF Level 7 qualification and IIA SA or SAICA membership.

Requirements

  • A NQF Level 7 Qualification (Bachelor’s degree, Bachelor of Technology or Advanced Diploma) in Auditing and Accounting/Accounting/ Accounting Sciences in Financial Accounting / Accounting Sciences in Internal Auditing / Financial Accounting / Internal Auditing.
  • Membership of Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (II A SA) or South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).
  • A minimum of 3- years’ junior management experience in conducting or providing technical support in internal /external auditing.
  • A valid Driver’s License.
  • People with disabilities without valid driver’s licenses will be assisted by the department to meet work related travel obligations.

Duties

  • Develop and review the strategic and annual plans for Internal Audit services for the Provincial Departments based on the results for the Provincial or Departmental risk assessments.
  • Develop and maintain methodologies, policies and procedure manuals for Internal Audit services.
  • Manage the implementation of Internal Audit projects, policies, methodologies and procedure manuals.
  • Manage and provide value adding recommendations for improving the institutions governance, risks and controls and monitor the implementation thereof.
  • Maintain relationships with client management and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the resources.

Following the technical exercise and interview, a maximum of three (3) SMS candidates will undergo psychometric assessments to assess cognitive capabilities, behavioural preferences, emotional intelligence, and integrity. The Department will also conduct reference checks with HR of current /previous employer(s), besides the references provided on the CV. Candidates will be subjected to security screening and a technical assessment. Under no circumstances will be faxed, emailed and late applications be accepted.
