Overview

Diagnostic radiographer position at Lotus River Community Day Centre in the Western Cape, requiring HPCSA registration, with salaries ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 3.

Requirements

  • Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in Diagnostic Radiography.
  • Registration with a professional council: Registration with the HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
  • Experience: Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as Radiographer in Diagnostic Radiography in respect of RSA qualified employees.
  • One year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession (where applicable) in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
  • Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Radiographer in Diagnostic Radiography in respect of RSA qualified employees.
  • Minimum of 11 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession (where applicable) in respect of foreign qualified employees of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa.
  • Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Radiographer in Diagnostic Radiography in respect of RSA qualified employees.
  • Minimum of 21 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession (where applicable) in respect of foreign qualified employees of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
  • Inherent requirements of the job: A valid driver’s license.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of protocols, radiation protection, quality assurance and equipment safety.
  • Computer literacy (MS Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Reliable, articulate and able to interact with patients and other staff.
  • An excellent work ethic.

Duties

  • Render Radiography services.
  • Responsible for the smooth running of Radiography services at the Community Health Centre and other facilities.
  • Delivery of a professional service to patients.
  • Produce diagnostic images of high quality.
  • Participate in student training if required.
  • Ensure quality assurance and apply radiation protection.
  • Perform administration duties as required.
  • Provide comprehensive radiography services based on service requirements.
