Requirements

  • MBChB degree or equivalent qualification Plus.
  • Certificate of current registration with the HPCSA as a Medical specialist in Surgery.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Competencies required: Knowledge and skills in adult and Paediatric Emergency Resuscitative intervention.
  • Clinical Knowledge in Acute and Chronic Surgical Management of patients.
  • Good interpersonal and supervisory skills.
  • Supervision of students, interns, doctors, auxiliary staff and registrars.
  • Accomplished in management of surgical trauma.
  • Knowledge and capability of performing and teaching laparoscopic surgery.

Duties

  • Provision of quality centered medical care to all patients in the Surgical Unit.
  • Maintain accurate medical record in accordance with legal and ethical guideline.
  • Supervision of interns, doctors, auxiliary staff.
  • Participation after- hours duties are compulsory.
  • Provision to assist in the outreach programs.
