Dsrac Internship Programme 2026/27-2027/8 (24 Months)

Overview

An intern is sought to support arts and culture administration in the Joe Gqabi District, assisting with budgets, project monitoring and stakeholder databases.

Requirements

  • National Senior Certificate/Matric Certificate/Grade 12 with a three-year degree/National Diploma (NQF 6) as recognised by SAQA in Cultural Studies / Arts Management / Public Administration / Public Management/ Management/ Library and Information Science/Archives & Records Management/ Heritage & Museum studies/ Cultural Heritage Management/ History/ Fine Arts/ Performing Arts/ Cultural studies majoring in one of the following or related fields Music, Dance & Drama, Visual Arts, Film.
  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Must have no criminal record.
  • Applicants must be unemployed and never participated in an internship programme previously.

Duties

  • Assist in the development of concept documents.
  • Organise meetings and minute-taking.
  • Assist in the development of budget and Implementation of Operational Plan.
  • Assist with Monitoring of Arts and Culture funded Projects.
  • Develop and update District database for Stakeholders.
  • Establish and Maintain working relations with Stakeholders.
  • Compile project reports.
  • Implement Arts & Culture projects.
  • Compile monthly reports for the section.
  • Assist in implementing events.
  • Implement outreach programmes.
  • Assist with procurement in the section.
  • Provide General administration support.

The Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts & Culture is offering an internship programme. The programme will be for a non-renewable period of 24 months. Unemployed Graduates are invited to apply and be in possession of the National Diploma / Degree as indicated in the requirements below. Applicants who previously underwent or are currently on an internship programme will not be considered. The objective of the Internship program within the public service, is to address the problem of youth unemployment, especially tertiary (university and Technikon) graduates by providing them with work experience opportunities in the public service. As per the Directive issued by DPSA on the employment of persons to developmental programmes in the public service: Internship, Learnership, Apprenticeship, Graduate recruitment schemes and related programmes, this Internship programme is specifically aimed at the following: Interns need to be graduates and unemployed. Interns need to be within their specific demographic area. The internship should not exceed a period of 24 months, meaning candidates cannot enter into an internship program more than once. During the tenure of the contract, the youth will receive continuous learning and development interventions to improve their skills through on-the-job training initiatives for optimal performance and to equip them for future employment.
