Vereistes

• MBChB-graad;
• Aansoekers moet as 'n Spesialis -Kardiothorakale Chirurgie by die Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) geregistreer wees.
• Huidige registrasie as Spesialis Kardiothorakale Chirurgie by die HPCSA.
• Ervaring: Graad 1: Geen ervaring word vereis na registrasie by HPCSA as 'n Mediese Spesialis (Kardiothorakale Chirurgie).
• Graad 2: Vyf (5) jaar se toepaslike ervaring as 'n Mediese Spesialis na registrasie by HPCSA as 'n Mediese Spesialis (Kardiothorakale Chirurgie).
• Graad 3: Tien (10) jaar se toepaslike ervaring as 'n Mediese Spesialis na registrasie by HPCSA as 'n Mediese Spesialis (Kardiothorakale Chirurgie).
• Bykomende kwalifikasies: Bykomende ervaring in die lewer van 'n spesialisdiens in óf VATS-chirurgie, hartoorplantingchirurgie, Op-CAB, ECMO of slukdermchirurgie.
• Vaardighede, kennis, opleiding en bevoegdheid vereis: Die ampdraer behoort oor omvattende kennis van die spesialiteitsdissipline Kardiothorakale Chirurgie te beskik, insluitend alle aspekte van Algemene Thorakale Chirurgie en Chirurgie vir Verworwe en Kongenitale Kardiovaskulêre Siekte.
• Chirurgiese vaardighede in die operatiewe bestuur van siektes binne die spesialiteit is 'n absolute voorvereiste.
• Daarbenedewens is onderrig en rekenaarvaardigheid noodsaaklike vereistes.
• Die aansoeker moet opleiding in 'n kardiothorakale eenheid by 'n geakkrediteerde akademiese sentrum, hetsy binne die land of elders, ondergaan het.
• Bevoegdheid in die kliniese evaluasie van die kardiothorakale chirurgiese pasiënt, interpretasie van spesiale ondersoeke, veral radiologiese, operatiewe ingrepe en postoperatiewe bestuur is van uiterste belang.
• Toon die vermoë om junior personeel te superviseer en te onderrig.
• Toon die vermoë om as deel van 'n multidissiplinêre span te werk.
• Bewese bestuursvermoë, deeglike kommunikasie-, onderhandeling-, beplannings-, organisasie-, leierskaps-, besluitnemings- en interpersoonlike vaardighede.

Pligte

• Lewer 'n kliniese diens wat die diagnose, ondersoek, peri-operatiewe sorg en chirurgiese bestuur van kardiothorakale pasiënte behels.
• Neem aktief deel aan die akademiese program wat deur die departement aangebied word vir die nagraadse opleiding van registrateurs, insluitend onderrig en navorsing.
• Superviseer en bekwaam registrateurs en junior konsultante om operatiewe kliniese vaardighede en besluitneming te verbeter.
• Bereik 'n vlak van teoretiese kennis en chirurgiese vaardighede wat vereis word vir die opleiding van 'n Kardiothorakale Chirurg.
• Neem buite-ure dienste deel wanneer vereis.
