Vereistes

• 'n Wetenskaplike graad (BSc) (Hon) of tersaaklike kwalifikasie.
• Verpligte registrasie by die SACNASP as 'n professionele Natuurwetenskaplike.
• Drie (3) jaar post-kwalifikasie Natuurwetenskaplike ervaring, by voorkeur in oorvloedfrekwensie-analise (deterministies, empiries en statisties), hidroliese modellering, waterbronsimulasie en opbrengsmodellering.
• Die openbaarmaking van 'n geldige, nie-verstreke bestuurderslisensie.
• Begrip van hidrologiese prosesse.
• Kennis van die toepassing van modelle soos HEC-RAS, die Water Resource Simulation Model 2000 (WRSM 2000), Water Resource Yield Model (WRYM), die CLASSR/PATCHR en/of soortgelyke modelle.
• Ervaring in program- en projekbestuur.
• Wetenskaplike metodes en modelle.
• Begrip van navorsing en ontwikkeling.
• Rekenaarondersteunde wetenskaplike toepassings.
• Kennis van regsvoorskrifte.
• Tegniese verslag-skryf.
• Skep van 'n hoëprestasie-kultuur.
• Professionele oordeel.
• Data-analise, beleidsontwikkeling en analise.
• Voorleggings- en moniteringsvaardighede.

Pligte

• Die suksesvolle kandidaat sal deel wees van 'n span hidroloë wat hoofsaaklik betrokke is by oorvloedfrekwensie-assesserings vir damveiligheidsdoeleindes.
• Sulke werk sal onder meer (maar nie beperk nie) die volgende insluit: help van kollegas met die koördinering van toegewysde werk; behulpsaam met die versameling van oorvloeddata soos tydens en na uiterste oorvloedgebeure en die omskakeling van oorvloeddata in hidrologiese inligting; uitbreiding en verbetering van graderings en invulling van gapings in data, ens. om die kwaliteit van hidrologiese inligting te verbeter; uitvoer van verkryging en verifikasie van tersaaklike data en inligting vir gebruik in hidrologiese en oorvloedfrekwensie (deterministiese, empiriese en statistiese) analises en assesserings by tersaaklike oorvloedterreine; voorlegging van bevindings van assesserings by evaluasievergaderings en die skryf van tegniese verslae; behulpsaam met die onderneming van waterbron- en opbrengstudies en hidroliese assesserings.

All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. Candidates will be required to complete a financial disclosure form and undergo security clearance.
