Overview
Two nursing assistant posts at Wesfleur Hospital in the Western Cape, providing basic nursing care in maternity and neonatal services across grades 1 to 3.
Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: Qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nursing Assistant.
- Registration with a professional council: Registration with SANC as Nursing Assistant.
- Experience: Grade 1: None.
- Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate / recognisable nursing experience after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
- Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ appropriate / recognisable nursing experience after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
- Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work shifts, public holidays, after-hours, night duty and weekends.
- Must be prepared to assist in all departments according to operational needs.
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Computer literacy (MS Office and Outlook).
- Basic Nursing Care principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape.
- Skills to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, function within the multi-disciplinary team and facilitate on the level of the post.
Duties
- Provision of basic nursing care by assisting patients with activities of daily living (physical care).
- Ensure implementation of basic nursing care plans and effective communication.
- Effective utilisation of resources.
- Promotion of QA, IPC AND OHS within the department.
- Maintain professional practice and ethical conduct and self-development.
