Assistant Director: Curriculum Implementation

Overview

Assistant Director for curriculum implementation at the Central Office in Vryheid, overseeing curriculum policy development and occupational programme rollout.

Requirements

  • An appropriate Bachelors’ Degree / National Diploma in Engineering and/or Business Studies augmented by qualification in Education (NQF Level 6) recognized by SAQA.
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ supervisory experience as Senior Lecturer/ Head of Division in the relevant field is required.
  • The candidate should have strong understanding of occupational curriculum development, implementation, and assessment strategies.
  • A valid drivers’ licence and willingness to drive long distances.
  • Knowledge of PSET and CET Act.
  • Knowledge of Teaching and Learning.
  • Knowledge of Skills Development Act, Public Service Regulations and Public Service Act as well as Labour Relations Act.
  • Knowledge of the Public TVET sector and its regulatory and legislative framework.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Higher Education sector.
  • Skills: Administrative, planning and organizing, financial management, report writing, communication and interpersonal, problem solving, analytical, client oriented, project management, team leadership and computer Literacy and people management.

Duties

  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of curriculum services by developing policy/ guidelines for management of curriculum (classroom management policy), monitoring the implementation of curriculum policies, leading the implementation of new programmes such as Occupational Programmes, coordinating review of the ICASS guidelines for all programmes in accordance with DHET guidelines, monitoring the conduct of assessments on all programmes, provide required report to senior management and other stakeholders, overseeing coordinated curriculum delivery at all college delivery sites, ensuring implementation of best practices teaching in collaboration with campus managers.
  • Oversee Curriculum Services by facilitating new programme decisions and manage planning process, identifying learner material, equipment and other resources, distributing LTSMS (Learning, Teaching Support Materials) to all campuses.
  • Ensure the provision of guidance for the improvement of curriculum content and delivery based on engagements with public and private industry stakeholders by analysing results and provide necessary intervention to critical subjects, planning class visits to improve quality teaching and learning.
  • Provisioning of Assessment and Moderation by conducting workshops for academic staff
