Nursing Assistant Grade 1 to 3

Overview

Nursing Assistant position at Clanwilliam Hospital offering three grade levels, requiring SANC registration as a Nursing Assistant and involvement in patient care and clinical support.

Requirements

• Minimum educational qualification: Qualification that allows registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant.
• Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
• Experience: Grade 1: None.
• Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience after registration with the SANC as Nursing Assistant.
• Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience after registration with the SANC as Nursing Assistant.
• Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to rotate to other wards in the facility.
• Must be prepared to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Competencies (knowledge/skills): Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint and knowledge of recordkeeping procedures.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to function under pressure and as part of a team.
• Ability to accept accountability and responsibility and to work independently.

Duties

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (Physical care).
• Provide elementary clinical nursing care.
• Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self- development.
• Effective functioning within multi-disciplinary team.
• Effective utilisation of resources.

Candidates who are not in possession of the stipulated registration requirements may also apply. Such candidates will only be considered for appointment on condition that proof of application for registration to register with the relevant council and proof of payment of the prescribed registration fees to the relevant council are submitted on or before the day of the interview. This concession is only applicable on health professionals who apply for the first time for registration in a specific category with the relevant council (including individuals who must apply for change in registration status). It will be expected of candidates to be available for selection interviews on a date, time and place as determined by the Department. Kindly note that excess personnel will receive preference. All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment.
