Overview
Eight Nursing Assistant positions at Groote Schuur Hospital in Observatory requiring SANC registration as an Enrolled Nursing Assistant, with salaries ranging from R181,230 to R249,141 per annum.
Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: Qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nursing Assistant.
- Registration with a professional council: Registration with SANC as Enrolled Nursing Assistant.
- Experience: Grade 1: None.
- Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Nursing Assistant.
- Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Nursing Assistant.
- Inherent requirements of the job: Working shifts and after-hours including weekends, public holidays and night duty.
- To rotate to other departments.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of Nursing Practices.
- Infection Prevention Control, control measures and practices.
- Ability to interpret basic clinical signs and symptoms.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to lift and turn patients, stand for long hours and lift heavy equipment.
Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (physical care).
- To provide elementary clinical nursing care.
- Effective utilisation of physical and financial resources.
- Maintain professional growth, ethical standards and self- development.

One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment.
