Nursing Assistant Grade 1 to 3 (GENERAL)

Overview

Nursing assistants needed at Vanguard and Retreat CHCs in the Western Cape, providing basic clinical nursing care to patients across three grade levels.

Requirements

  • Minimum educational qualification: Qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
  • Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SANC as Nursing Assistant.
  • Experience: Grade 1: None Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years of appropriate/ recognizable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
  • Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years of appropriate/ recognizable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
  • Inherent requirement of the job: Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
  • Will be required to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Must be prepared to assist in all departments according to operational needs.
  • Must be willing and able to assist at other facilities within the Southern and Western Sub-Structure.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of nursing care and procedures, nursing statutes, and other relevant legal frameworks.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.

Duties

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (physical care).
  • To provide elementary clinical nursing care.
  • Effective utilization of physical and financial resources.
  • Maintain professional growth/ ethical standards and self- development.

Candidates will be subjected to a written/practical and oral assessment. It will be expected of candidates to be available for selection interviews on a date, time and place as determined by the Department. Kindly note that excess personnel will receive preference. All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment.
