Requirements

  • Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R254) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • Or a 4 year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R1497 or R171 plus R1497) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse.
  • Experience: Grade 1: None.
  • Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
  • Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
  • Inherent requirement of the job: Willingness to work shifts, day and night duty, weekends and public holidays to meet the operational requirements.
  • Willingness to rotate to other departments if required.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Ability to function/ make decisions independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, leadership and conflict resolution skills.

Duties

  • Provide direction and supervision for the implementation of the nursing plan (Clinical practice/ quality patient care).
  • Implement standards, practices, criteria and indicators quality nursing (quality of practice).
  • Practice nursing and health care in accordance with the laws and regulations relevant to nursing and health care.
  • Maintain a constructive working relationship with nursing and other stakeholders.
  • Utilize human, material and physical resources efficiently.
