Vereistes
- Meestergraad (NQF 9) in Chemiese Ingenieurswese, Natuur- of Omgewingswetenskappe of 'n relevante kwalifikasie soos deur SAQA erken.
- Vyf (5) jaar se ervaring in die relevante veld.
- Kennis van omgewings- en ontwikkelingskwessies (wêreldwyd, streeks, lokaal).
- Goeie begrip en kennis van emissie- en sekwestrasieprosesse, asook bronne en putte in die onderskeie sektore.
- Program- en projekbestuur.
- Kennis van industriële prosesse en hul verwante kweekhuisgasemissies.
- Vermoë om kweekhuisgasemissie-oorsigte uit te voer.
- Begrip van Suid-Afrika se kweekhuisgasemissieprofiel en klimaatsveranderingsmitigasie.
- Uitgebreide kennis van klimaatsveranderingsmitigasiekwessies, insluitend regs- en beleidraamwerke en ander hindernisse, die ekonomie en tegniese vereistes van lae-koolstofontwikkeling.
- Vermoë om navorsing te doen, inligting in te samel en te ontleed.
- Kennis van atmosferiese chemie en nywerheidsprocestoepassings.
- Data-insameling en -ontleding.
- Modellering en koördinering.
- Goeie kommunikasie (skriftelik en mondeling), analitiese, organisatoriese en verslagskryfvaardighede. Inligtingsbestuur.

Pligte
- Voer verslagverifikasi vir koolstofbelasting uit.
- Voer tegniese verifikasie en oorsig van maatskappyvlak-GHG-verslae uit ter ondersteuning van koolstofbelastingsvalidasieprosesse vir die IPPU en Afval.
- Beoordeel die volledigheid, akkuraatheid en metodologiese geskiktheid van emissiedata wat deur gereguleerde entiteite ingedien is.
- Evalueer verifikasiestate en onafhanklike beoordelaarverslae om nakoming van regulasievereistes te verseker.
- Werk saam met relevante owerhede om belyning tussen gerapporteerde emissies, koolstofbelasting voorleggings en nasionale voorraaddata te verseker.
- Verskaf tegniese leierskap en voorraadbestuur vir die energiesektore.
- Lei die ontwikkeling, samestelling en verbetering van GHG-voorrade vir die Energie in ooreenstemming met IPCC-riglyne en UNFCCC-verslaggewingsvereistes.
- Hou toesig oor metodologiese seleksie, emissiefaktorontwikkeling en aktiwiteitsdatabestuur om wetenskaplike robuustheid te verseker.
- Ondersteun die toekenning van koolstofbegrotings vir maatskappye in die energiesektor.
- Ondersteun die ontwikkeling van GHG-emissierekenings.
- Voer kweekhuisgasemissie-scenariomodellering en -ontleding uit.
- Ondersteun die ontwikkeling en toepassing van emissieprojeksiemodelle vir die energiesektore om nasionale mitigasiepatrone in te lig.
- Ontleed basislyn- en alternatiewe emissiescenario's om die potensiële impak van beleide, regulasies en tegnologiese ingrypings te beoordeel.
- Werk saam met modelleringspanne, navorsingsinstellings en beleidseenhede om konsekwentheid tussen voorraaddata en projeksies te verseker.
- Voer navorsingstudies uit en implementeer befondsingsinisiatiewe.
- Lei en koördineer navorsingstudies wat gemik is op die verbetering van emissieskattings, emissiefaktore, mitigasieopsies en datasiesteme vir die energiesektore.
- Identifiseer prioriteitsnavorsingsbehoeftes om voorraadonsekerhede, verifikasie-uitdagings en modelleringsgapings aan te spreek.
- Ondersteun die mobilisering, toekenning en bestuur van befondsing vir sektor-spesifieke navorsings- en analitiese studies.
- Hersien en integreer navorsingsuitsette in nasionale voorrade, modelleringsraamwerke en beleidsprosesse.
- Verbeter datasiesteme en dryf deurlopende verbetering.
- Ondersteun die verbetering van GHG-databestuur, -verslaggewing en -verifikasiestelsels vir die energiesektor.
- Bevorder integrasie tussen voorraaddatabasisse, modelleringsnutsgoed en regulatoriese verslaggewingsplatforms.
- Monitor internasionale beste praktyke en beveel innovasies aan om voorraad-, verifikasie- en modelleringsstelsels te versterk.

Furthermore, Shortlisted candidates must provide proof of successful completion of the course. All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements, and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. Following the interview and technical assessment for all SMS posts, the Selection Panel will recommend candidates to attend a generic managerial competency assessment in compliance with the DPSA Directive on the implementation of competency-based assessments.
