• Grade 12 or an equivalent appropriate qualification recognised by SAQA.
• A valid driver's licence code C1/code 10 minimum.
• Professional Driving Permit (PrDP is required).
• Experience in driving and operating specialised vehicles, agricultural machinery and equipment.
• Skills And Competencies: Knowledge of driving and operating specialised vehicles, agricultural machinery and equipment, including basic inspection and maintenance procedures.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements applicable to vehicle and machinery operation.
• Ability to read, write and maintain basic operational records, interpret operating and safety manuals, identify and report defects, and work independently as well as part of a team.
• Good communication skills, good eyesight, and the physical ability to safely perform the duties of the post.

Umsebenzi

• Operate departmental vehicles, specialised equipment and agricultural machinery in accordance with prescribed procedures and safety requirements.
• Transport departmental officials, work teams, agricultural inputs, materials and equipment, including loading and offloading where required.
• Conduct routine inspections, basic maintenance and condition checks of vehicles, machinery and equipment, and report defects.
• Maintain accurate logbooks, trip authorisations. inspection checklists and other prescribed record.
• Assist with agricultural infrastructure, production support and the operation of machinery and equipment at departmental facilities and project sites.
• Detect and report mechanical faults and facilitate the repair of defective vehicles, machinery and equipment.
• Comply with departmental policies, procedures, occupational health and safety requirements, and applicable legislation.
