Izidingo

  • Grade 12 plus a recognised Bachelor’s Degree/National Diploma in Animal Health or related field.
  • Current registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) as an Animal Health Technician.
  • Relevant and Supervisor experience an added advantage.
  • Skills And Competencies: Knowledge of Animal Diseases Act, 1984.
  • Veterinary and Para-veterinary Professions Act, 1982.
  • Animal Identification Act, 2002.
  • Fertilizers Farm Feed Agricultural Remedies and Stock Remedies Act, 1947.
  • Knowledge of animal health, disease control and animal welfare.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Report writing and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work after hours when required.

Umsebenzi

  • Supervise the implementation of vaccination programmes on Controlled Animal Diseases according to the Animal Diseases Act.
  • Supervise the implementation of disease surveillance on Controlled Diseases according to the Animal Diseases Act.
  • Supervise the activities of Primary Animal Health Care.
  • Supervise the conduction of National and Provincial disease Surveillance in the state veterinary area.
  • Supervise the implementation of the Brucellosis and Tuberculosis Eradication Schemes in the state veterinary area.
  • Manage dip-tanks and dipping programmes.
  • Supervise dip-stuff, veterinary work-materials and vaccine inventory.
  • Participate in the movement of buffaloes within or out of the Mpumalanga Province.
  • Supervise human resources and transport logistics.
  • Implement Performance Management Development System of employees and reporting to line manager.

The successful candidate will be expected to enter into an employment contract and a performance agreement within 3 months of appointment.
