  • Appropriate Trade Test Certificate in terms of section 13(2)(h) of the Manpower Act, 1981, as amended.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • A minimum of 10 years' post- qualification experience as an Artisan/Artisan Foreman.
  • Experience in a regional hospital environment will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in the supervision and management of artisans and maintenance personnel will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in the management of contractors and maintenance contracts will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge, Skills Training And Competencies Required: Sound knowledge of technical maintenance, repairs and installation within the relevant trade.
  • Good knowledge of project management and maintenance planning.
  • Knowledge of technical design, analysis and interpretation of technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, technical standards and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) Guidelines Ability to supervise, coordinate and manage artisans, contractors and maintenance personnel.
  • Good problem- solving, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise maintenance activities and projects.
  • Good technical report-writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of financial and resource management, including maintenance budgets and materials.
  • Ability to monitor and ensure quality, compliance and timely completion of maintenance work.
  • Good computer literacy, including the use of relevant technical and administrative applications.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond to emergency maintenance requirements.
  • Good customer focus, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide technical advice and guidance to management and staff.

Umsebenzi

  • Manage, coordinate and monitor the provision of technical and maintenance services at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital.
  • Supervise and manage artisans, artisan foremen, maintenance personnel and support staff.
  • Conduct performance management in terms of Employee Performance Management and Development Systems (EPMDS).
  • Plan, coordinate and implement preventative and corrective maintenance programmes.
  • Investigate technical problems and ensure that appropriate remedial action is taken.
  • Ensure that maintenance work is performed according to prescribed technical standards, specifications and applicable legislation.
  • Manage and monitor maintenance projects from planning through to completion.
  • Monitor the performance of contractors and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Ensure effective utilisation and control of human, financial, material and technical resources.
  • Prepare, scope of works, specifications, technical reports, project reports, maintenance schedules and other relevant documentation.
  • Participate in the preparation and management of maintenance budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety, environmental and other statutory requirements.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to management and relevant hospital departments.
  • Participate in inspections, audits and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure that equipment, infrastructure and building services are maintained in a safe and functional condition.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints relating to infrastructure and maintenance matters.
  • Promote effective communication, teamwork and service delivery within the technical services environment.
  • Perform any other duties delegated by the supervisor or hospital management.
