Professional Nurse Grade 1 to 2 (SPECIALTY: Children’s at Department of Health and Wellness in Western Cape.

Imfuneko

  • Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R254) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in Child Nursing Science (R212).
  • OR A 4 year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R1497 or R171 plus R1497) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • A post graduate diploma (R635) accredited with the SANC in Child Nursing.
  • Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
  • Experience: Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
  • Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
  • At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience in the specific specialty after obtaining the 1-year post-basic nursing qualification or post graduate diploma in in the relevant speciality.
  • Inherent requirements of the job: Valid driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to work shifts (day and night duty), public holidays, after-hours, and weekends.
  • Relief the Operational Manager: Nursing when needed.
  • Deputising for the Operational Manager: Nursing.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices in the field of speciality.
  • Ability to promote quality through the setting, implementation, and monitoring of nursing standards in the Children’s ward.
  • Ability to function independently as well as part of a multi- disciplinary team.
  • Effective verbal, written communication, interpersonal, decision-making, conflict-resolution skills and be computer literate (i.e.
  • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Provision of optimal, holistic specialized nursing care with set standards and within a professional/legal framework.
  • Effective utilization of resources.

  • Provision of Support to Nursing Services.
