  • Grade 12 plus a recognised Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in environmental Science fields or related qualification.
  • A specialization in environmental education and/or social ecology, as well as work experience in the environmental empowerment field will be an added advantage.
  • Skills And Competencies: Knowledge of National Environmental Management Act, Climate Change Act, Environmental Education policies, guidelines, norms and standards related to environmental prescripts.
  • Understanding of Public Services Regulatory Framework (Public Service Act, and Public Services Regulations Act and Public Finance Management Act), Ability to work independently and in multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as project administration.
  • Innovative, creative, and ability to operate Microsoft office programmes (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work under pressure with strict timelines.
  • A valid driver’s license.

  • Provide public environmental awareness and education, capacity building, and empowerment services.
  • Implement appropriate environmental awareness raising activities, and environmental education programmes and projects.
  • Conduct environmental awareness and education activities to enhance the participation of community groups, stakeholders, municipalities, and schools in environmental empowerment services.
  • Perform environmental empowerment services, programmes, projects and activities in line with the Annual performance plan (APP).
  • Ensuring performance and reporting is in line with public sector prescripts including the Performance Management and Development System (PMDS).

Following the technical exercise and interview, a maximum of three (3) SMS candidates will undergo psychometric assessments to assess cognitive capabilities, behavioural preferences, emotional intelligence, and integrity. Correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates only. The successful candidate will be expected to enter into an employment contract and a performance agreement within 3 months of appointment.
