Imfuneko

  • Grade 12 plus a recognised Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) or related qualification in Environmental Management, Natural Sciences, Environmental Law, or Environmental Sciences.
  • Minimum of 6 years post qualification experience in Environmental Management, of which at least three (3) years must be in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
  • Registration with EAPASA in terms of Section 24H of NEMA.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Skills And Competencies: Knowledge of relevant Public Service Regulatory Framework (Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations and Public Finance Management).
  • Practical knowledge of and experience in working with the National Environmental Management Act, Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, associated Instruments, and policies, guidelines, norms and standards related to Integrated Environmental Management.
  • Understanding and knowledge of all environmental prescripts applicable for EIA.
  • Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including negotiation and diplomacy.
  • Experience in project administration, and policy analysis and development.
  • Resourceful, and an ability to operate Microsoft office programmes effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure within strict timelines.
  • Ability to write and interpret technical reports and documents.

  • Review and facilitate applications for environmental authorisations and all associated reports submitted to the District office in terms of the appropriate legislation, and draft recommendations for enforceable environmental authorisations; evaluate and provide comment for applications for mining activities where the Department of Mineral Resources is the Competent Authority; evaluate and comment on Land Use Applications; maintain accurate registers of all applications and authorisations; facilitate the implementation of other Integrated Environmental Management tools;
  • Provide specialised technical input and advice on impact management to clients, stakeholders and communities; perform administrative and related functions.
