- Grade 12 plus a recognised Bachelor’s Degree / Advanced Diploma qualification in Internal Control / Accounting / Auditing or any related fields.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience at Assistant Director level in finance.
- Skills And Competencies: Demonstrated an in-depth knowledge of the legislative environment applicable to government finance and supply chain management and the development, implementation and monitoring of related policies and procedures within a government environment.
- Excellent supervisory and operational management skills.
- Good interpersonal relations and written & verbal communication skills.
- The ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality and to prioritize work in high-pressure environments.
- Knowledge of relevant prescripts (PFMA, Treasury regulations, BBBEE Act, PPPFA).
- Leadership, communication, financial management, planning and execution skills.
- Knowledge and experience on BAS.
- Knowledge of LOGIS and PERSAL will be an advantage.
- A valid driver’s license.

- The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing Internal Control and Compliance functions within the department.
- Facilitate identifying, recording, investigation, reporting and appropriate disclosures of Fruitless & Wasteful Expenditure, Irregular Expenditure, Unauthorised expenditure and Losses & damages in accordance with National Treasury prescripts and frameworks.
- Developing and monitoring compliance to financial delegations, financial policies and procedures.
- Review internal and external audit reports/audit findings.
- Identify internal control weaknesses, recommend mitigations and monitor implementation of mitigation plans.
- Manage development of audit action plans and monitoring implementation of audit action plans across the department.

Following the technical exercise and interview, a maximum of three (3) SMS candidates will undergo psychometric assessments to assess cognitive capabilities, behavioural preferences, emotional intelligence, and integrity. The successful candidate will be expected to enter into an employment contract and a performance agreement within 3 months of appointment.
