Lecturer position at Port Shepstone Campus for nursing education and training of student nurses, requiring a Nursing Diploma or Degree and SANC registration.

  • Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent, A Diploma / Degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse.
  • Plus, A post registration qualification in Nursing Education registered with the South African Nursing Council.
  • Plus, Current Registration with the South African Nursing Council for the year 2026.
  • Plus Unendorsed valid Code EB driver’s licence (code 08).
  • A minimum of four (4) years appropriate/recognizable experience after registration as a Professional Nurse and registration/qualification as a Midwife / Accoucheur or Grade 2: A minimum of fourteen (14) years appropriate/recognizable experience after registration as a Professional Nurse and registration/qualification as a Midwife / Accoucheur with the South African Nursing Council in General Nursing of which ten (10) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience in Nursing Education (in the case of grade 2 PND2) Knowledge, Skills And Experience: Possess knowledge of relevant Legislation, Acts, Prescripts and Policy frameworks informing the area of operation.
  • Knowledge of nursing education programmes and curriculum.
  • Proficiency in teaching and assessment in Nursing Education including evaluation approaches.
  • Possess good communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess sound knowledge and understanding of nursing code of ethics and professional practice.
  • Knowledge of policy development, interpretation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Sound conflict management and decision-making/problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Good research and analytical skills.
  • Computer literacy.

  • Provide education and training to student nurses- theory and clinical.
  • Implement assessment strategies do determine students’ competencies.
  • Coordinate clinical learning exposure to students between college and clinical areas.
  • Conduct clinical accompaniment of students.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance programmes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and build a sound PUBLIC relationship within the Department.
  • Exercise supervision and control of students.
  • Support the mission and promote the image of the College.
