Groundsman (GROUNDS and Gardening)

Overview

Groundsman position at Tygerberg Hospital in Parow Valley requiring basic literacy, gardening experience, a valid code B/EB licence and the ability to operate garden machinery and a tractor.

Requirements

• Minimum educational qualification: Basic literacy and numeracy.
• Experience: Appropriate experience working in a grounds and gardening environment.
• Inherent requirement of the job: Be able to operate garden machinery (lawn mowers and brush cutters).
• Valid code (B/EB) driving license as well as the ability to operate and drive a tractor.
• Competencies (knowledge/skills): Gardening skills including landscaping and irrigation systems.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Duties

• Responsible for the development and maintenance of facility garden and terrain as well as bondage of machinery.
• The preparation of ground covers for planting trees and bushes.
• The maintenance of flower and other beddings.
• Ensure that grounds and gardens are maintained (horticultural aspects).
• Support to supervisor.
