Requirements
- An appropriate NQF 7 qualification in Tourism Management or related qualifications.
- Five (5) years’ experience in tourism management field of which three (3) years must be at a supervisory level related management.

Duties
- The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing national policy, strategy and plans for tourism management in collaboration with stakeholders;
- Providing policy and strategy alignment of the Department’s priorities with those of stakeholders;
- Facilitating synergy in programmes of Department and those of stakeholders;
- Establishing effective collaborations and partnerships with stakeholders;
- Facilitating, collaborate , strengthen and manage tourism relations and cooperation with stakeholders;
- Providing effective coordination and cooperation with stakeholders;
- Facilitating and develop report on the implementation of the agreements to advance issues of tourism in identified priority areas e.g.
- Transport and Creative industries;
- Effective management of strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagements in relation to tourism integration;
- Ensuring the mainstreaming of tourism in the transport sector;
- Developing and manage the programme and interventions that support activation in the creative industry and transport sector for tourism mainstreaming;
- Facilitating and develop status report and verify support measures that are reported;
- Managing the Departmental participation in the strategic partnerships of priority areas e.g.
- Transport and Creative Industries;
- Effective stakeholder liaise to facilitate implementation of tourism programmes;
- Providing specific analysis to enable policy formulation and strategic interventions;
- Conducting research and analysis on identified priority areas to enable effective integration of tourism and Creative industries (to maximise impact and benefits);
- Facilitating research and development to unlock and support tourism competitiveness;
- Formulating and manage the component’s budget against its strategic objectives;
- Monitoring the implementation of the budget allocated for projects by projecting & reporting on expenditure;
- Ensuring that spending is maximised in line with strategic objective;
- Monitoring and report on the utilization of equipment;
- Coordinating memoranda of understanding, service level agreements and expenditures;
- Coordinating memoranda of understanding for the implementing of projects;
- Providing leadership and contribute to the strategic direction in the Directorate;
- Assisting in providing strategic inputs of the Directorate to ensure alignment with its business;
- Participating in the implementation of the strategic plans;
- Aligning individual performance to the strategic business objectives as outlined in the Directorate’s balance operational plan;
- Implementing and report on operational frameworks in the area of functional responsibility;
- Ensuring the attainability & suitability of performance standards as per departmental objectives;
- Providing communication and regular reporting in the directorate;
- Managing the performance of subordinates;
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders.

One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. Candidates will further be subjected to a personnel suitability check (criminal record, citizenship, credit record checks, qualification verification, and employment verification). Some of the interviewed candidates for Senior Management level vacancies may be subjected to a 2-day competency assessment that will test generic competencies.
