Overview

Clinical Programme Coordinator Grade 1 (INFECTION at Department of Health and Wellness in Western Cape.

Requirements

  • Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent (R683) qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • OR A 4 year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • OR A 3 year Diploma in Nursing (R171) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a General Nurse.
  • (This dispensation is only applicable for posts of Clinical Programme Coordinator where it is an inherent requirement pf the post, incumbent to maintain registration with the SANC).
  • Registration with a professional council: Registration with SANC as Professional Nurse or General Nurse.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years’ appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
  • Inherent requirements of the job: Valid (Code B/EB) driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel between O&P Centre and Brackengate Facility to provide support when operationally required.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Good interpersonal relations, leadership and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Principles of Management: leadership, supervisory, problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of provincial infection and control measures and practices.
  • Ability to analyze health systems information, and skills in the preparation of reports.
  • Computer Literacy (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook) Ability to function independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Duties

  • Financial Management control and ensure compliance pertaining to Medical Waste.
  • Provide guidance and training in infection prevention control to staff.
  • Participation in training and research programmes relevant to the principles and management of infection prevention and control.
  • Develop and ensure implementation of clinical practice guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) in Infection Prevention Control (IPC) for use by staff and participate in surveillance and auditing.
  • Ensure well-functioning, multi- disciplinary infection control advisory committee.
  • Support the Health Establishment (HE) staff meet the Ideal Clinic Realization and Maintenance (CRM) and Ideal Hospital Realization and Maintenance (IHRM).
  • Establish measures that will ensure health and safety of staff and users.
  • Management of risks as identified in terms if infection control and participation in outbreak investigations to give relevant inputs and advice.
  • Monitor data quality in the Health Establishment.
