Overview
Clinical Programme Coordinator position in the Free State Department of Health requiring a nursing qualification registered with SANC to manage clinical programmes and monitor patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e.
- Diploma / Degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- OR - A 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- OR - A 3-year Diploma in General Nursing (R171) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a General Nurse.
- Registration with a Professional Council: Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse or General Nurse that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council.
- A minimum of 7 years appropriate/recognisable experience in Nursing after registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (2026/2027).
- Qualification in Information and Data Management will be added as an advantage.
- Knowledge and Skills: Proven previous experience and qualification in Information and Data Management will serve as a strong advantage.
- Good communication and Interpersonal skills.
- Strong management and leadership skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Problem solving skills.
Duties
- Coordinate and manage the implementation of clinical programmes and projects.
- Monitor programme performance, targets, and patient outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with health policies, clinical guidelines, quality standards.
- Conduct audits and support quality improvement initiatives.
- Collect, analyse, and report programme data and performance indicators.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary teamwork and stakeholder collaboration.
- Coordinate training, mentoring, and capacity-building activities for healthcare staff.
- Support effective patient care, referral systems, and service delivery.
- Manage programme resources, including equipment, supplies, and budgets.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for management and regulatory bodies.
- Identify service delivery gaps and implement corrective actions.
- Support accreditation, compliance, and patient safety initiatives.

Applicants are not required to submit copies of qualifications and other relevant documents on application but submit detailed Curriculum Vitae. Therefore, only shortlisted candidates for a post will be required to submit certified documents on or before the day of the interview following communication from HR. Successful completion of the Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme (Nyukela) is required for being considered for this SMS post prior to appointment. Enrolment for the course should be made on the NSG’s website at https://www.thensg.gov.za/trainingcourse/sms-pre-entry-programme. Applicants will be expected to be available for selection interviews and assessments at a time, date and place as determined by the Department. All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. The successful candidate must disclose to the Head of Department particulars of all registrable financial interests, sign a performance agreement and employment contract with the Head of Department within three months from the date of assumption of duty. Should you be in possession of a foreign qualification, it must be accompanied by an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA). Applicants who do not comply with the above-mentioned requirements, as well as applications received late, will not be considered. The recommended candidate(s) for OSD production posts MUST submit endorsed service certificates from the previous employer and endorsed PERSAL service records where applicable within 2 days of accepting the offer. The Department does not accept applications via fax or email. Failure to submit all the requested documents will result in the application not being considered.
