Overview
Professional Nurse position at Groote Schuur Hospital requiring SANC registration to facilitate clinical education and maintain nursing care standards.
Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R254) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse or 4 year bachelor’s degree in nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R1497 or R171 plus R1497) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse.
- Experience: Grade 1: None.
- Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse.
- Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse.
- Inherent requirements of the job: Work Shifts, after hours Including Weekends, Public Holidays as required by operational needs.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of SANC education and training standards, curriculum development, assessment and moderation principles.
- Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Supervisory ability, problem-solving, organisational skills, ability to function independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Computer Literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet; familiarity with SANC digital reporting standards.
- Legislative Knowledge Nursing Act, SANC Regulations, Labour Relations, Skills Development Act, Employment Equity Act, Batho Pele principles.
Duties
- Facilitate learning opportunities; develop and maintain standards of care and clinical education programmes; teach and assess core nursing competencies; manage CPD portfolios and training records.
- Liaise with higher education institutions, clinical programme coordinators and hospital management; maintain accurate documentation and reporting of all training activities.
- Identify clinical trends; support and participate in nursing research; monitor nursing PUBLIC documentation standards; compile and present reports.
- Assist with budgeting; coordinate inventory control; promote cost containment; ensure proper maintenance and security of training equipment and materials.
- Implement orientation/induction programmes; assist with performance management, skills development and career pathing; advise on disciplinary matters; refer staff to EAP/ICAS as needed.
