Overview

Staff Nurse position in neonatal care at Ladysmith Regional Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal, requiring SANC registration as an enrolled nurse.

Requirements

  • Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent.
  • Enrolled Nursing Certificate.
  • Current Registration with SANC as Enrolled Nurse (2026).
  • Knowledge, Skills, Training and Competencies: All nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statutes and other relevant legal frameworks, such as nursing Act, Health Act and scope of practice as a Staff Nurse.
  • Good interpersonal relations, communication skills, basic writing skills, basic interpersonal skills and ability to function and work as part of a team.
  • An understanding of the challenges facing the public health sector.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of Patient Rights Charter, Batho Pele Principles, Ethical Code of Conduct, basic labour Relations.
  • Knowledge on nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statutes and other relevant legal framework.

Duties

  • Maintain client satisfaction through quality service, innovation and nursing care by upholding the principles of Batho Pele and Patients’ Rights and Responsibility.
  • Ensure that infection control and health and safety standards are maintained at all times.
  • Ensure the effective, efficient and economical use of allocated resources.
  • Maintain clinical professional and ethical standards related to these services.
  • Develop establish and maintain constructive working relationship with staff and other stakeholders.
  • Display a concern for patients, promoting, advocating and facilitating proper treatment and care and ensuring that the unit adhere to the principles of Bath Pele.
  • Ensure the rendering of nursing care under the direct and indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse as directed by the Scope of Practice.
  • Maintain accurate records and confidentiality.
  • Ensure safe and efficient functioning of the Human milk bank.
