Overview
Medical Specialist in Paediatrics and Child Health sought for Karl Bremer Hospital in the Western Cape, requiring HPCSA registration as a Medical Specialist.
Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as Medical Specialist in Paediatrics.
- Registration with a professional council: Registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Paediatrics.
- Experience: Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Paediatrics.
- Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years’ appropriate experience as Medical Specialist in Paecdiatrics, after registration with the HPCSA (or a recognized foreign Health Professional Council in respect of a foreign qualified employee).
- Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate experience as Medical Specialist in Paediatrics, after registration with the HPCSA (or a recognized foreign Health Professional Council in respect of a foreign qualified employee).
- Inherent requirements of the job: Valid driver’s licence.
- Willingness to travel.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Ability to render high quality clinical care in the in- and out-patient setting, including excellent medical record keeping.
- Ability to balance the outputs of a large clinical workload with the teaching and supervisory requirements of the position.
- Be computer literate, have strong administrative, managerial, communication and conflict resolution skills.
Duties
- Clinical service delivery at specialist level across the full spectrum of Paediatrics / Child Health services, focused on OPD & specialised clinics but including wards and emergency centre.
- Administrative & clinical governance including oversight and management in OPD, medical record keeping, data analysis, quality improvement and equipment management.
- Teaching, training and supervision of junior medical staff and students with participation in the hospital academic program.
- Domain specific outputs and participation within the Metro East ecosystem, including promotion of child health and alignment with all aspects of district-level Child Health – within the hospital and the Metro East ecosystem.
