Operational Manager Grade 1 (GENERAL: Night Duty) (X2

Overview
Manage and supervise patient care and human resources on night duty at Brackengate Transitional Care Facility.
Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent (R683) qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- OR A 4 year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- OR A 3 year Diploma in Nursing (R171) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a General Nurse.
- Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse or General Nurse.
- Experience: A minimum of 7 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
- Inherent requirement of the job: Will be required to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- Valid Code B/EB driver’s licence.
- Will be required to deliver standby duties for the Hospital.
- Will be required to relief the Operational manager day shift/Nurse Manager.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Basic computer literacy.
- Knowledge and insight of relevant legislation and policy related to this nursing speciality within the public sector.
- Be able to function independent and as part of the multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to promote quality patient care through the setting, implementation, and monitoring of standards.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, leadership, organizational skills, decision making, and conflict resolution skills.
Duties
- Manage, supervise and coordinating patient care and human resources on night duty for all departments within the hospital.
- Provide strategic leadership and guidance towards realization of strategic goals and objectives of the organization through the implementation of policies and regulations, and professional practices.
- Collect, verify and submit accurate midnight reports and handover of activities on night shift.
- Quality assurance management by auditing clinical records, doing ward rounds, managing patient safety incidents and complaints, coordinating and provide in-service training on night duty.
- Utilize the information management systems to enhance patient care and service delivery.
