Overview
Assistant Agricultural Practitioner providing advisory and technical support on agricultural projects and food security initiatives in the Western Cape.
Requirements
- An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification);
- A valid driving licence (Code B or higher).
- NB: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply.
- Competencies: Knowledge of extension methodologies;
- Good communication skills;
- Job Related Skills;
- Ability to communicate with clients and farmers;
- Basic reporting skills;
- Basic level of public speaking;
- Group dynamics understanding.
Duties
- Assist in rendering general agricultural advice to internal and external clients so as to ensure sustainable development;
- Assist in providing technical support on all agricultural projects, food security initiatives, and land development support programmes and also assist with planning, advice, facilitation of training and after care;
- Assist in promoting a pluralistic approach and partnerships with relevant agricultural stakeholders and organised agriculture;
- Assist in promotion of sustainable production of agricultural products;
- Perform administrative and related functions.
