Overview
Principal Provincial Inspector positions in KwaZulu-Natal requiring a Traffic Officer's Diploma and 6 to 10 years of traffic law enforcement experience.
Requirements
- A Senior Certificate; plus Traffic Officer’s Diploma; plus Registered as a Traffic Officer; plus A minimum of 6 - 10 years Traffic Law Enforcement experience; plus All valid relevant driving licences (A and EC); plus Applicants must possess no criminal record.

- Law enforcement knowledge on traffic and Public Transport, vehicle inspections, vehicle impoundment and completion of law Enforcement Documents.

Duties
- Manage and enforce Road Traffic, Public Passenger, Transport Legislation and other relevant legislations.
- Manage joint law enforcement activities and projects (co-operative governance).
- Manage resources and provide leadership and direction to all subordinates.
- Identify and manage risks.
- Manage the performance of all administrative activities and related duties.

Prior to appointment being made to an SMS post, the appointee must have completed the pre-entry certificate and must be in possession of such prior to taking up the post. The Senior Management Pre- Entry Programme, which is a public service specific training programme applicable to all applicants who aspire to join the SMS, is to ensure that potential SMS members have a background on processes and procedures linked to the SMS. All shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical exercise that intends to test relevant technical elements of the job, the logistics of which will be communicated by the department. Following the interview and technical exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend a generic managerial competency assessment (in compliance with the DPSA Directive on the implementation of competency-based assessments). The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools. It will be expected of candidates to be available for selection interviews on a date, time and place as determined by the Department. The Department of Transport reserves the right not to fill the advertised post(s) at any stage of the recruitment process. Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and other designated groups are encouraged to apply. All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre- entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment.
