Overview
Manage nuclear safety, liabilities and emergency information at the Department of Electricity and Energy head office in Pretoria.
Requirements
- An appropriate Degree in Natural Science (major in Physical Sciences and Chemistry) at NQF Level 7 recognised by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA), plus a minimum of 1 year experience in the field of science.
- Knowledge of: Nuclear policy and legislation, Nuclear Energy in general, Government processes. knowledge of common approaches to legislative aspects of Nuclear Liabilities Service Act.
- Skills: Communication, report writing, computer and problem-solving skills. Listening;
- Analytical, interpersonal and basic research skills.
- Thinking Demands: Demonstrated sound judgement in applying professional expertise to identify problems and contribute to their solutions.
- Ability to analyse information.
- Commitment to the DEE’s strategy and the ability to apply organizational policies and procedures.
Duties
- Consolidate Nuclear Safety, Liabilities and Emergency management information.
- Collect information on the methodologies, technologies and good practices for management of nuclear safety liabilities and emergency impacts on our legislations.
- Provide assistance in the implementation of the Nuclear Emergency projects to ensure adequate emergency preparedness and response.
- Participate in the Departmental activities towards the convention on Nuclear Safety, the joint convention, Convention on Early Notification and Convention of assistance in cases of an Emergency.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders regarding the Nuclear Safety related matters.
- Provide Secretariat Support for the Directorate Safety and Emergency Management.
