Internship: Occupational Health and Safety

Overview

Internship at the Unemployment Insurance Fund in Pretoria assisting with occupational health and safety, SHE programme monitoring and risk assessments.

Requirements

• An undergraduate qualification in Occupational Health and Safety/ Health and Safety/ Safety Management/ Environmental Management/ Environmental Health at NQF Level 6 as recognized by SAQA.
• No experience required (Never participated in any Internship Programme (both Public / Private sector).
• Knowledge: Public Service Regulations (PSR).
• Public Service Act (PSA).
• Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA).
• Labour Relation Act (LRA).
• Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
• Public Finance Management.
• Act (PFMA).
• Code of Ethics.
• Batho Pele Principles.
• Safety procedure guidelines.
• Fire equipment standards prevention. Procedures.
• Disaster Management.
• All Labour Legislations. Skills.
• People Management.
• Problem Solving.
• Presentation Planning and Organizing Analytical skills. Communications.
• Computer Literacy.
• Report Writing. Creativity.

Duties

• Assist in maintaining Health, Safety and Security of Staff in all UIF buildings.
• Assist in monitoring the implementation of the requirements for SHE (Safety Health and Environment) Programme.
• Assistant in verifying Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Risk assessments.
• Participate in OHS Investigations at UIF buildings.

The Graduate Programme is meant to provide work exposure to graduates in their fields of studies.
