Overview

Food Service Aid position at Nelspoort Hospital in the Western Cape, requiring experience in hospital meal preparation and willingness to work shifts.

Requirements

• Minimum requirement: Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
• Experience: Appropriate experience in preparing patient meals in hospitals environment.
• Inherent requirement of the job: Physically strong to lift heavy objects and be on their feet the entire day.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, overtime and public holidays.
• Competencies (knowledge/skills): Good communicate skills (read, speak and write).
• Appropriate knowledge of hygiene, occupational health, HACCP and safety principles.
• The ability to prepare meals according to standardized recipes.

Duties

• Provision of food services, including pre-preparation and preparation of normal and special diets as well as dishing up and distribution of the meals.
• Assist with the receiving and storage of perishables and groceries.
• Implement and control hygienic environment according to occupational health and safety prescripts including infection control.
• Assist with the informal in-service training of new employees in the unit.
