• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
• Registration with HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
• A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience as a medical officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation such as National Health Act, Mental Health Act, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)), Public Service Act and related regulations and policies.
• Competencies: Strategic capability and leadership, Program and Project Management, Financial Management, Change Management, People Management and Empowerment, Service Delivery Innovation, Knowledge Management, Problem Solving and Analysis, Communication, Client Orientation and Customer focus.
• A valid driver’s licence.

Pligte

• Management of clinical services in the entire hospital in accordance with the departmental standards, including after hours as delegated.
• Participate and accountable for assisting in leading and managing the hospital clinical services.
• Maintain accurate health records in accordance with legal ethical considerations.
• Train and guide staff and health associated professionals in morbidity and mortality reviews.
• Attend and participate in continuous medical education.
• Participate in quality improvement programs.
• Ensure that cost effective services delivery is maintained within the respective department.
• Attend to administrative matters as required.
• To plan, direct coordinate and manage the efficient and effective delivery of clinical and administration support services through working the key executive management team at the hospital within the legal regulatory framework.
• To present the Hospital Authoritatively at provincial and public forums.
• Determines system for intradepartmental functions in keeping with hospital policies and communicates it to staff.
• Training and development of staff in the relevant sections.
• Ensure compliance with National Core Standards requirements or any other regulatory and/or statutory requirement.
• Conduct regular clinical audits and develop, implement and monitor action plans.
• Develop, monitor and analyse budget and financial information and utilise all resources in an effective and efficient manner.
• Practice effective problem identification and resolution skills as a method of sound decision making.
• Must be prepared to work under pressure and after hour duties as per commuted overtime policy.
• Compile medical reports and give evidence at trials, when required.
• Manage Performance and Development (PMDS) and perform quarterly reviews of subordinates.
• The incumbent must also be prepared to train, develop and supervise of undergraduate and post graduate junior doctors.
