Clinical Programme Coordinator Infection Prevention

Coordinate infection prevention and control programmes at Botshabelo District Hospital, requiring a nursing diploma or degree with SANC registration as a Professional Nurse.
Vereistes
- Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e.
- Diploma/Degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- OR - A 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- OR - A 3-year Diploma in General Nursing (R171) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a General Nurse.
- Registration with a Professional Council: Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse or General Nurse and that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council.
- A minimum of 7 years appropriate / recognisable experience in nursing after registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
- Current registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC) (2026/2027).
- Infection and Prevention Control Nursing will be added as an advantage Knowledge and Skills: Proven previous experience and qualification in Infection and Prevention Control will serve as a strong advantage.
- Good communication and Interpersonal skills.
- Strong management and leadership skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Problem solving skills.
Pligte
- Establish a system to monitor the implementation of NDoH and GDoH Infection Prevention Control Policy Guidelines and facilitate the review of existing protocols / SOPs.
- Facilitate IPC research, surveillance, monitoring and evaluation of Infection Prevention and control program.
- Participate in Provincial and Cluster IPC Committee structures.
- Revive and support existing institutional Infection Prevention and Control Committee.
- Contribute to the development of IPC Strategic Plan and develop IPC Operational Plan aligned to the strategic plan of Free State Department of Health.
- Compile monthly, quarterly and annual Infection Prevention and Control reports.
- Undertake/conduct infection surveillance, routine data collection and analysis and provide a report and advice management on possible remedial intervention.
- Ensure that nosocomial infection and outbreaks are investigated, reported and monitor quality PUBLIC improvement strategies.
- Monitor the availability of supplies required to support IPC programme requirements.
- Collaborate with managers to develop intervention strategies that promote IPC compliance.
- Establish and implement a system to facilitate early identification and isolation of confirmed and suspected infectious diseases.
- Provide training.
- Manage staff to ensure optimal departmental functioning.

One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. The successful candidate must disclose to the Head of Department particulars of all registrable financial interests, sign a performance agreement and employment contract with the Head of Department within three months from the date of assumption of duty. Should you be in possession of a foreign qualification, it must be accompanied by an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA). Applicants who do not comply with the above-mentioned requirements, as well as applications received late, will not be considered. The recommended candidate(s) for OSD production posts MUST submit endorsed service certificates from the previous employer and endorsed PERSAL service records where applicable within 2 days of accepting the offer.
