• Stel die Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry-inventaris op.
• Lei die opstelling en jaarlikse hersiening van die LULUCF-komponent van South Africa se Nasionale Kweekhuisgas- (GHG) inventaris.
• Identifiseer data- en inligtingsvereistes vir LULUCF-emissieskatting.
• Versamel, kollasioneer en valideer data vir die Forest and Other Land Use- (FOLU) sektor.
• Voer QA/QC-prosesse uit en verseker data-integriteit en metodologiese konsekwentheid.
• Stel LULUCF-emissie-inventarisverslae op en implementeer GHG-verbeteringsprogramme.
• Hersien Koolstofsekwestrasie.
• Hersien sekwestrasie-voorleggings van GHG-rapporteringsentiteite vir Carbon Tax-nakoming.
• Doen navorsing om ander aktiwiteite te identifiseer wat vir koolstofsekwestrasie onder die koolstofbelasting in aanmerking moet kom.
• Hou toesig oor die onafhanklike verifikasieskema vir koolstofsekwestrasie.
• Werk saam met die bosbou- en pulpen papierbedryf om deursigtigheid in verslagdoening deur derdeparty-houtkwekers te verbeter.
• Bestuur Landkartering en Datastelsels.
• Stel 'n landkarteringsplatform op en opereer dit om volhoubare LULUCF-emissiekompilering te ondersteun.
• Ontwikkel en onderhou landgebruikverandering-datasette en landgebruikverandering-matryse.
• Analiseer mitigasie-aksies met behulp van geospatiale en landgebruikdata.
• Versterk digitale stelsels wat LULUCF-monitering, verslagdoening en verifikasie (MRV) ondersteun.
• Verskaf Bestuurs- en Verslagdoeningsondersteuning.
• Ondersteun die implementering van die Climate Change Act, spesifiek soos dit verband hou met LULUCF en landgebaseerde emissies.
• Dra by tot plaaslike en internasionale verslagdoening, insluitend Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs), National Communications en ander UNFCCC-voorleggings.
• Ondersteun die ontwikkeling en operasionele instelling van standaarde en riglyne vir die FOLU-sektor.

Entry level requirements for SMS posts: In terms of the Directive on Compulsory Capacity Development, Mandatory Training Days & Minimum Entry Requirements for SMS that was introduced on 1 April 2015, a requirement for all applicants for SMS posts from 1 April 2020 is a successful completion of the Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme as endorsed by the National School of Government (NSG) prior to appointment. Furthermore, Shortlisted candidates must provide proof of successful completion of the course. All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. Following the interview and technical passement for all SMS posts, the Selection Panel will recommend candidates to attend a generic managerial competency assessment in compliance with the DPSA Directive on the implementation of competency-based assessments. Persons appointed will be subjected to a security clearance, the signing of performance agreement and employment contract. The Department reserves the right not to make an appointment.
