• Nasionale Diploma in Siviele Ingenieurswese.
• Ses (6) jare se tegnies-ervaringskwalifikasie na-kwalisering in siviele ingenieurswese.
• Verpligte registrasie by die Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as 'n Professionele Ingenieurstegnisien.
• Die openbaring van 'n bestuurderslisensie.
• Bewese ervaring in projekten programmabestuur.
• Deeglike tegnies-ontwerp- en analitiese vaardighede.
• Kennis van rekenaargesteunde ingenieurstoepassings, regsnaleving en kontrakbestuur.
• Uitstekende tegnies-verslaggeridinge, probleemoplossing, besluitneming, spanwerk, kreatiwitiet en klantefokusvaardighede.
• Goeie mondelinge en geskrewe kommunikasievaardighede. Rekenaargeletterdheid.
• Mensebestuur- en begrotigsbestuurvaardighede.
• Praktiese kennis van die Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993), en die Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).

• Bestuur en monitor siviele ingenieursprosesse binne regeringswater-skemas en watergebruikersassossiasies.
• Bestuur administratiewe en verwante funksies.
• Monitor die implementering van kapitaal- en operasioneel-gefinansierde projekte deur terreinopsies, terreinkwartiere en die samestelling en indiening van vorderingsverslae.
• Voer toestandbeoordelings van infrastruktuur uit en verseker naleving van relevante standaarde en regulasies, insluitend damseilingregulasies.
• Stel siviele ingenieursrprojekspesifikasies op en fasiliteer die implementering en kontrakbestuur van siviele ingenieursprojekte.
• Voer navorings- en ontwikkelingsinisiatiewe uit ter ondersteuning van die doeltreffende bestuur en instandhouding van waterinfrastruktuur.
• Verskaf tegnies-raad en -ondersteuning om die volhoubare bedryf van regeringswater-skemas en watergebruikersassossiasies te verseker.

A pre-entry certificate obtained from the National School of government is required prior to the appointment. All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. Candidates will be required to complete a financial disclosure form and undergo security clearance.
